Welcome! Learn how the Least Developed Countries University Consortium on Climate Change (LUCCC) is helping to advance LDC government access to finance for meeting climate adaptation and mitigation priorities in their countries.

Our Purpose

Our impact

Working in 13 countries across Africa and South Asia, the LDC University Leadership for Catalyzing Climate-Adaptation Finance (UNI-LEAD) project is strengthening capacities of LDC universities within the LUCCC to provide technical advice and leadership to  their governments on accessing international climate finance.

The Why

LDC universities have significant potential to play a strong leadership role in mobilizing climate finance for their countries. Strengthening in-country capacity enables universities to engage their governments on climate finance rather than governments relying on external experts and multilateral intermediaries to develop fundable proposals.

Resources for Change

Through the establishment of university think-tanks in Nepal, Senegal, Uganda, and Mozambique, and other LUCCC member activities, the UNI-LEAD project is unlocking university potential for providing technical advisement to governments on climate finance. UNI-LEAD has also developed short courses on key aspects of climate finance.
